ECHA Warns of Upcoming Compliance Checks for Restricted Substances

Last week, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) released a list of 29 substances it may target for compliance checks in the final months of 2017. The ECHA has therefore asked that registrants review their applicable registration dossiers by October 31, 2017, and update them with any new or relevant information such as changes to the tonnage band.

Assent recommends companies review the list released by the ECHA and check their usage of the substances in question, with a particular focus on ensuring registration dossiers are up to date before the October deadline.

This scrutiny reinforces the need for companies to maintain up-to-date information on the substances in their supply chains at all times. This is an essential aspect of maintaining compliance with complex chemical regulations like the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) and Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) regulations.
