The 2019 State of Compliance Survey Is Underway

The 2019 State of Compliance survey is underway. We invite all compliance professionals to take the online survey and have their voices heard in the resulting report.

The study will evaluate organizational structures, and highlight the true cost of compliance for companies of various sizes. It will also examine the demands and costs associated with evolving regulatory requirements, as well as pain points experienced by companies in specific revenue bands.

The aggregated results will provide actionable insights into how companies are navigating the expanding regulatory landscape, which compliance professionals can use to inform their own programs and initiatives.

Assent was a partner in the 2017 and 2018 State of Compliance reports. In 2018, author Nick Padlo examined the costs associated with compliance, including the average annual cost of complying with regulatory requirements.

Other key takeaways from the 2018 State of Compliance report included:

  • An increase in regulatory requirements impacted compliance teams across all companies, including small, medium and enterprise businesses.
  • While the use of third-party software increased in 2018, so did the use of manual processes. This resulted in more time spent on compliance activities across all departments.
  • Companies spent an increased amount of time on compliance requests, and forecasted that the increases will continue.
  • The actual cost of compliance was higher than expected, with labor-intensive processes contributing to the cost disparity.
